Swimming School – RESS
The swimming school is open to everyone two years old and above. The classes are for one hour a week. There are five levels available:
Appreciation Class - This is for children under five years of age. They learn how to be comfortable in the water. They also start learning how to do simple skills in the water.
Introductory Class – This is for everyone five years and above. The students learn how to swim the front crawl. Adults learn the front crawl and a second stroke.
Certificate Class – This is for everyone who has passed the Introductory Class or who can demonstrate efficiency in the skills learnt in the Introductory Class. Children learn the breaststroke and/ or the backstroke. Adults learn the breaststroke or the backstroke. By the end of the certificate class, the students should be comfortable in the deep end of a swimming pool.
Diploma Class – This is for everyone who has passed the Certificate Class or who can swim at least three strokes well, and can swim comfortably in the deep end. By the end of the Diploma Class, the students should be able to swim the four competitive strokes, do the turns, and a few other things.
Synchronized Swimming Class – This is for anyone who has passed the Certificate Class and who can tread water for at least three minutes. By the end of this class, the students will be able to execute several basic skills in synchronized swimming.
